K. B. Pun, currently working as the Dean, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences & Technology at Assam down town University, Guwahati (Assam), has an illustrious career spanning 37 years in the field of research, teaching, extension and administration in various capacities. Dr. Pun has served Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat (Assam), National Rice Research Institute, Cuttack (Odisha) and ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi. He has also served ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, Gogamukh (Assam) as its Nodal Officer and later on as the Consultant. He is a plant virologist and has varied research interests and experiences. His research area centered around identification, characterization and management of virus(es) and virus-like pathogens affecting rice, large cardamom, citrus and a few vegetable crops. Dr. Pun has contributed more than 70 research papers in the national and international journals of repute.
Suman Karmakar, born on 12th Oct, 1999 in West Bengal, pursued a B.Sc in Agriculture from Sri Dev Suman Uttarakhand University, Badshahithol, Tehri Garhwal (2018-2022), followed by an M.Sc in Agriculture with a specialization in Plant Pathology from Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture Technology and Sciences, Uttar Pradesh (2022-2024). Currently, I am pursuing a Ph.D. in Plant Pathology at Nagaland University, School of Agricultural Sciences, Medziphema campus. My research includes a detailed study of Guava wilt in the Prayagraj region and work on Fusarium species. I am deeply passionate about plant disease management and advancing the field of plant pathology.
Manjula, Ph.D. (Ag) student in Plant Pathology at the University of Agricultural Sciences, Raichur, Karnataka. My academic journey began with B. Sc. (Ag) degree from GKVK, UAS Bengaluru in 2019, followed by an M. Sc. (Ag) in Plant Pathology from Agriculture College, Bapatla, Acharya N.G. Ranga University, Andhra Pradesh in 2021, where I received the ICAR JRF Fellowship. My master's thesis on sugarcane earned me the '4th All India Sugarcane Workers Conference Book Prize for Best Thesis Work' in 2023. I have qualified for the ASRB ICAR NET (Plant Pathology) in both 2021 and 2023. My research experience has been showcased through presentations at national and international conferences, including the 'Best Poster Presentation Award' at the 1st International Agriculture Conference. My contributions to agriculture are evident through: - 7 research papers, 9 Abstracts, 5 book chapters, 21 popular articles. I am committed to advancing my knowledge and expertise in plant pathology to make a positive impact in the field of agriculture.
Suresh Patil, prominent academic and researcher in Plant Pathology, currently serving as an Assistant Professor cum Junior Scientist in the Department of Plant Pathology at Bihar Agricultural College, Sabour, within Bihar Agricultural University, Sabour. With an impressive academic and research background, Dr. Patil is ideally suited to lead the editorial team for the forthcoming book. Dr. Suresh Patil completed his undergraduate studies at the College of Agriculture, Raichur, and pursued his master’s degree at UAS GKVK, Bengaluru and Ph.D. in Plant Pathology from UAS Dharwad during 2013.He was qualified with ICAR-NET. He has extensive ten years research as well as teaching experience for Undergraduate and Postgraduate students and acquainted with basics and principles of Plant pathology, host-pathogen interaction, screening for disease resistance, advances in molecular plant pathology and integrated disease management.
Hem Chandra Chaudhary, hold an M.Sc. (Ag.) in Plant Pathology from Bidhan Chandra Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Mohanpur, Nadia, West Bengal (2002), and a Ph.D. in Plant Pathology from Sam Higginbottom University of Science & Technology, Prayagraj, UP. My research focuses on identifying plant pathogens and developing sustainable disease management strategies to enhance crop productivity. I specialize in diagnostics, pathogen identification, and integrated pest management. I have been working as an Assistant Professor-cum-Scientist at DRPCAU, Pusa, since 2009. In addition, I completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Agricultural Extension Management in 2014 and qualified for the NET examination in the same year. My goal is to contribute to sustainable agriculture through innovative research that promotes disease-resistant crops and ensures food security in the face of climate change and population growth.
