Agroforestry has emerged as a vital land-use system that harmonizes agricultural productivity with ecological sustainability. The book "Introductory Agroforestry" has been meticulously prepared in accordance with the ICAR 6th Deans' Committee Report to cater to the academic and practical needs of undergraduate students in agricultural sciences. This book provides comprehensive insights into the definition, scope, and types of agroforestry systems, including their ecological, economic, and socio-cultural dimensions. Special emphasis is given to multipurpose tree species (MPTS), traditional agroforestry systems, tree-crop interactions, and their role in nutrient recycling, biodiversity conservation, and climate resilience. It also covers practical aspects of silviculture, nursery management, propagation techniques, and agroforestry models developed by premier institutions like ICAR-IGFRI and ICFRE.
