About the Book

Psychology, since its inception has undergone conspicuous transformation in approximately fourteen decades and this evolution has been purely astounding. The early twentieth century witnessed the growth of different „schools of psychology‟ viz., structuralism, functionalism, behaviourism, Gestalt psychology, psychoanalysis, cognitive psychology and humanism. Gradually, advances in computer technology, social sciences and natural sciences played an inestimable role in modern psychology's metamorphosis as it tended to dominate psychological research and theorizing. As a result of these advancements, researchers were able to simulate human thought processes and generate images of various neurological processes, allowing them to gain a better understanding of human behaviour. Currently, American Psychological Association (APA), has 56 divisions of psychology out of which 54 are active reflecting the diverse, dynamic and vibrant nature of this field. Hence, psychology has recently surfaced as an integrated, interdisciplinary and applied discipline that is scientific in nature. Ever since, the role of psychologists is expanding in the twenty-first century, placing them on the forefront onto the drivers‟ seat. By bringing contributors from diverse disciplines, this book includes 18 chapters that are highly thought-provoking.
