About the Book
It is indeed true that today the whole world is battling a dangerous disease called Coronavirus or Covid- 19, as the disease has globally taken everyone into its grip, there it is rightly called as Pandemic. Without going into the details of its origin- the causes and place, I would like to say that natural calamities such as; famines, earthquakes, storms and diseases are likely to occur and will occur in all times to come. The more the man interferes with nature's plans, the more he will have to face the wraths of nature. This planet cannot bear the burden of more people than required. The natural resources are limited. What to talk of food grains; even portable water and fresh air are not available to humans; the reason is that world population is increasing at a tremendous rate. In 1700 AD, the world's population was 68 crores in 1800 AD it rose to 100 crores, in 1900 AD the figure was 170 crores, and in 2000 it was more than 600 crores. The world witnessed Black Death in 1351 which killed 75 to 200 million people, and covid 19 (20192020) took a tremendous toll. Doctor Malthus, a renowned economist, remarked that there are two types of checks to prevent population growth, and these are preventive checks and natural checks. Human beings must adopt specific measures to check the growth of population, and if they failed to do so, nature would perform its duty in the form of famines, floods, earthquakes and fatal diseases. Covid- 19 has many dimensions and has crossed all seven continents. The badly affected countries are India, China, America, England, Spain, France, Italy, Germany, and Russia. The pandemic has thrown a large number of challenges before the Indian government. The lockdowns have shattered the Indian economy. It has affected people socially, culturally, physically, mentally, psychologically and economically.
